As usual, Kirby manipulates various interwar records to fit a cavalcade of emotional states: blissful (B1, E8), tragic (D2, D5), frantic (E1, E6), and just plain horrifying (F3, G1, H1, K1). gjoe52

I recorded Cherish 8 from John Peel in 1983. I had no idea who they were and had to replay the section of Peel speaking many times to make sure that I’d got their name right; “Ike”(is that what he said?) Yard… I wrote it down in pencil on the C90 card. Years later, thanks to the internet, I confirmed their name, found out they’d been on Factory (a favourite label) and managed to get hold of an original pressing of this first LP. Great band, and thank god Factory, a great label, believed in them! Neil Procter
